Picked it up on Kindle Unlimited. Went back and purchased it outright.

Book cover for "I never meant to sart a Murder Cult and other stroies" by Darrel Z. Grizzle forward by Jeff Strand. cover art features a female presenting blone figure standing with their right arm raised, bent at the elbow, haed turns to the right, wearing a white dress with red spots and a wide red sash-belt tied in a bow on the right side . The re are two robed and hood figures behind her with arms raised in a prayerful manner ands in fornt of them and elbows bent.

I was looking over a listing of books at the Queer Crime Writers website and spotted this one with a catchy title by Darrel Grizzle. I chuckled over the title, and thought, “this looks lke a fun read.”

I laughed my way through Jeff Strand’s forward, as I’ve sat through a few open reads that felt like the first one he describes and one or two that matched up with the one he introduced Darrel for. I like that kind best, so I had hopes going into the actual stories.

The opening story, which shares its name with the book, was a nice twist on an old saw (“I’m your biggest fan”, anyone?; the remainder follow along with laughs a few shocks and gotchas, and a “jolly good read!”

No, I’m not English, but the phrase is appropriate. Pick it up in whatever format you like best. Due to shelf space limitations, I’m currently forbade to buy print volumes, but if I were not, this one would certainly be on mine. As is, it’s in my e-library. You can find it at Jeff Bezos’ fine emporium.*

Another Month, Another Post

Towards the end of March, the characters related to the *Good Bones* saga began talking to me—no, lecturing me. More specifically, Brooke Morningstar’s grandparents, Anastazia and Józef, both Holocaust survivors, sat me down one evening and began telling me their harrowing story. From Auschwitz-Birkenau, to their struggle for survival and eventual reunion in Prague, their journey is one of resilience and love. Not to mention their history has some parallels to current events today.

Beyond the Shadow: Reclaiming the Hidden Light Within

In the realm of Carl Jung’s psychology, shadow work has become a popular term, often conjuring images of exploring one’s darker impulses and repressed flaws. It’s a practice of looking within, facing those aspects of ourselves we’d rather deny—our anger, jealousy, or selfishness. While this journey is undoubtedly transformative, there’s another, equally vital side to the shadow that often goes unnoticed. What if, instead of only confronting what we fear in ourselves, we also asked: What good have we buried in the shadow?
