Historical

These are based on actual history – although some of the details may be compressed or exaggerated, or conveniently ignored. That all depends on the nature of the story being told. However, if it’s my writing and has a historical tag, it will be relatively close to the factual history. (An example – “Bedknobs and Broomsticks” is *techincally* historical fiction. It’s set during World War 2, and there were attempts by the Nazis to land troops in England. There are also documented reports of groups of self-proclaimed “magical practitioners” who performed ceremonies to prevent such from successfully happening. Dion Fortune’s Society of Inner Light was one such organization and details are written about it in the book “The Magical Battle of Britain” which is a collection of the letters she sent to members of her order during that period. But the witch flying on her broom and animated suits of armor are the fantastical elements that ender it a fantasy, and not a historical fiction.
